General Index’s Global Energy Market Data Now Available on ICE Connect

16 May 2023

General Index (GX), the world’s first technology-led benchmark provider, announced today that its global energy markets data, which includes spot price benchmarks and historical data, will be offered on the ICE Connect platform. ICE Connect is a service offered by Intercontinental Exchange (NYSE: ICE), which brings together a range of trading tools with cross-asset real-time data, news and analytics for global markets.

The addition of GX data modules to the ICE Connect platform further strengthens GX’s vision of bringing fair and easy access to critical pricing data for the world’s commodity markets through trusted technological solutions. GX ingests and aggregates trade data to build a full view of market activity, and then applies algorithmic index methodologies consistently, accurately and without subjective judgement.

“The General Index ethos is simple – fair access to accurate commodity price data. The world’s resources are finite, so having a full view of how to utilise those resources is critical and something that all market participants should be able to access and afford. By working with ICE, we are widening access to specialist pricing data and bringing even more transparency to the market through technology-led systems.”

Neil Bradford, Founder and CEO, General Index

“As geopolitics and supply disruptions continue to impact energy markets, our customers rely on timely data and analytics to help inform their decision-making and risk management strategies. General Index’s suite of energy price benchmarks offers customers another tool for evaluating markets and we’re excited to have their data available on our platform.”

Maurisa Baumann, VP, Desktop and Feeds Products, ICE

Through this agreement, ICE Connect users will have access to GX’s energy price benchmarks derived through the market-accepted methodologies, including crude, refined products, LPG, marine fuels, carbon, hydrogen and other energy transition products.
