About the role:

GX is positioned at the intersection of commodity markets and cutting-edge AI technology. The Head of Data Science will spearhead our AI and innovative data product initiatives, unlocking new value from our extensive trade and pricing datasets. This senior leadership role will bridge technical excellence with strategic business impact, working directly with our C-level leadership team to deliver transformative LLM-based solutions.

Reporting to the Chief Technology & Data Officer, you'll lead data science strategy for the organization, serving as the subject matter expert across our global data team. This role offers significant autonomy to shape how we leverage AI and machine learning within the commodities space, collaborating with analysts and commodity pricing experts across multiple regions. Travel will be required to support our teams in London, Houston, and Singapore.

You will:

  • Spearhead data science and AI initiatives that unlock value from GX's proprietary data sets
  • Build and deploy customer solutions leveraging LLMs and modern AI capabilities
  • Serve as the data science SME for the overall data team, mentoring analysts across Krakow, London, Houston, and Singapore
  • Line management of the data analyst team in Krakow
  • Engage directly with internal C-level executives to identify opportunities and drive AI strategy
  • Work with product team to understand, translate and deliver on business requirements
  • Work alongside commodity pricing experts to develop AI solutions that respect market nuances and leverage their deep domain knowledge
  • Manage and develop data science talent as the team grows
  • Travel regularly internationally to collaborate with regional teams and strengthen cross-office capabilities
  • Represent GX's AI capabilities through internal presentations and thought leadership

You offer:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field from a leading university
  • Strong numerical skills and attention to detail
  • Experience programming in Python
  • Proficiency in Excel
  • Ability to work collaboratively across remote teams
  • Skill in capturing and implementing business and technical requirements
  • Interest in oil and energy markets
  • Excellent English
